Looking for a great movie to see with your family this holiday season? Whether you want something kid-friendly, dramatic or hilarious, you’ll find plenty of options here, with something that's bound to satisfy...

If you’re taking the kids to see a movie, Disney’s animated film Frozen is a good bet. The film tells the story of two princesses, protagonist Anna (Kristen Bell) and her older sister Elsa (Idina Menzel), who has the ability to create snow and ice. Although her parents attempt to keep her ability under wraps, Elsa accidentally reveals her power. Afraid of what people might to do her, Elsa flees the land; accidentally leaving it in a state of eternal winter in the process. With the help of a Mountain Man (Jonathan Groff) and his reindeer Sven, optimistic Anna sets out to find her sister and save the kingdom. According to The Examiner, the film is “filled with lessons of courage and love…Love, in all its variations, is shown to have magical powers". Frozen opens up nationwide on November 29.

The Book Thief
This movie is based on the best-selling book of the same name, by Australian writer Markus Zusak. The story takes place in Nazi Germany and is narrated by Death. The protagonist of the story, Lisel Meminger (Sophie Nilesse), is a courageous girl who steals books to share with others. She develops a friendship with a Jewish boy who is being hidden by her adoptive parents. Filled with beautiful scenery and characterized by strong acting, the drama is the perfect choice for those who want a more weighty film. Exploring the themes of childhood alongside the darker elements of Nazism, the film will give audiences lots to discuss.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
The second film in The Hobbit trilogy hits cinemas this month. Title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) journeys alongside the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellan) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage), to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. With director Peter Jackson at the helm, the film is sure to incorporate the rich storytelling and vibrant sets characteristic of the earlier films. Fans of the books will find this an epic and memorable Christmas movie. Entertainment Weekly has the link to a preview of the film's score, so be sure to listen to it in order to get excited for the film!

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
Nine years after the cult classic Anchorman hit theaters, its sequel is coming to a screen near you. If you’re in the mood for a comedy, this is the film for you. With the ‘70s behind him, lead anchorman Rob Burgandy (Will Ferrell) moves from San Diego to New York City in an attempt to begin working at a 24-hour news channel. Although rumors of a sequel had been in the works for years, it wasn’t officially confirmed until 2012. Will Ferrell broke the exciting news to Conan while dressed in an iconic Ron Burgandy suit. If the trailer is any indication, the sequel should incorporate the same humour and character dynamics that endeared the first one to fans.
